Do You Qualify?
The Alaska Temporary Assistance Program provides temporary financial help for low-income families with dependent children. If you are unable to work, out of work or if your job does not pay enough, Temporary Assistance may be able to help you.
Services
- Case managers help you to find employment to become self-sufficient. Below are some of the work services Temporary Assistance program participants may receive.
- Based on your individualized family self-sufficiency plan, a case manager provides labor market information matching your skills and abilities to job openings.
- Assistance in applying for job openings by reviewing your resume and interview skill and other skills needed to find the right job for you.
- Need more work experience? Take advantage of special programs we have with local businesses. They agree to hire our job seekers and/or provide training. In return we reimburse the business owner for a portion of the training costs.
- Increase your income! We can help you develop a plan to increase your income, work-related benefits and/or your hours to help you and your family prosper.
- On a limited basis, we can fund vocational education and job training for program participants with special needs such as pursuing a GED or ESL.
- When you are following your self-sufficiency plan by working or doing approved work activities we can help you with referrals to child care resources and by helping you to meet the costs of child care.
- If you are employed or engaged in work activities, your case manager may also be able to help you with transportation, work or interview clothes, licenses, tools, and other things you need to get and keep a job.
